Selank – 10 mg

Advanced Neuroregulatory Peptide | Stress Response & Neurotransmitter Research

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide associated with immune-system activity and cellular regulation.

Developed through Russian peptide research programmes, Selank has attracted significant scientific interest for its potential interactions with neurotransmitter signalling, stress-related biological pathways and neuroimmune regulation.

Comprising seven amino acids, Selank combines the tuftsin-derived sequence with a Pro-Gly-Pro fragment, producing a modified peptide investigated for its neurological properties.

Its distinctive molecular structure has made it an important subject of research in neuroscience, neuropharmacology and stress-response biology.

How Does Selank Work?

Experimental research suggests that Selank may influence several neurological and biological mechanisms:

  • GABAergic Signalling: Investigated for its effects on pathways associated with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.

  • Stress Response Research: Studied in experimental models examining neurological and behavioural responses to stress.

  • Neurotransmitter Regulation: Research has investigated its interactions with gene-expression pathways involving GABA, dopamine and serotonin-related signalling.

  • Neuropeptide Metabolism: Examined for its potential influence on enkephalin-related pathways, which are associated with neurological communication and stress responses.

  • Cognitive & Behavioural Research: Investigated in experimental studies exploring learning, attention and behavioural responses.

  • Neuroimmune Signalling: Explored for possible interactions between immune-derived peptides and nervous-system activity.

  • Central Nervous System Regulation: Studied for its effects on molecular pathways involved in neural signalling and cellular adaptation.

Although early research suggests biological activity, Selank's precise mechanisms and clinical significance remain incompletely understood.

Current Scientific Research

Selank has been investigated in laboratory, animal and small human studies examining neurological signalling and anxiety-related biological processes.

A Russian clinical study published in 2008 investigated Selank in patients experiencing generalised anxiety disorder and neurasthenia, reporting anxiety-related outcomes comparable to the benzodiazepine medazepam in the studied groups.

Further research published in Frontiers in Pharmacology in 2016 examined changes in genes involved in GABAergic neurotransmission following Selank exposure in experimental rat models.

Additional investigations have explored Selank's interactions with enkephalin metabolism, neurotransmitter regulation and neurological stress pathways.

However, the human evidence base remains relatively small, and independent large-scale clinical trials are lacking.

Further research is required to establish its effectiveness, safety and long-term biological effects.

Important Research Disclaimer

Selank is not an approved medicinal treatment in the United Kingdom or United States.

Although it has been investigated in clinical studies in Russia, these findings do not establish its safety or effectiveness for anxiety management, cognitive enhancement or neurological conditions in the wider population.

Its long-term safety and clinical effectiveness remain insufficiently established.
